Overview

Work with us

Independent research on how technologies meet real people, turned into evidence innovators and institutions can act on.

The Lab does one thing: it builds honest understanding of how a technology behaves once real people live with it, so the people steering a transition can steer it toward human values, not away from them. People first, technology second, place always.

Below, three questions clients bring us. Each links to the primary service page, and lists the method pages behind it.

Entering a New Context →

Independent field evidence for the decision to enter a new market or launch a new product line. Who adopts, at what price, and which failure modes to name early.

Methods
  • Research & Development Support - the earlier-stage decisions: what to build, whom for, and whether the prototype meets its real environment. TRL and SRL, read together, for corporate R&D and European R&D consortia.
  • Market & Expansion Research - the launch decision itself: demand vs stated, segments the local reality uses, the stack that carries adoption, failure modes named early.

Measuring Change →

What actually changes, for whom, and through what pathway. Reach, depth, and experience, measured from the human side first.

Methods
  • Field Research - the primary-research method: interviews, surveys, baselines, ethics standards.
  • Impact Measurement - the reach / depth / experience frame that reads the fieldwork into a defensible impact claim.

Reporting to Funders →

Monitoring, evaluation, dissemination as one connected system. Independent, set up at the start, closed with proof, including for European Grant Agreements.

What ties it together

The Lab's stance

Social science first. Technical depth alongside. Independence throughout.

Every service rests on the same foundation: social-science fieldcraft that finds out what is happening to people and makes it hold up, together with genuine technical literacy about the systems we study, independent of the things we measure. That is what allows us to align human values with technology in context.

The audience layer

Beyond the client-question spine, two dedicated routes exist for specific audiences:

For Funders →

Independent, field-verified evidence of what each grant is producing. SROI to standard, portfolio benchmarking, and a dashboard behind which every figure has been checked.

European consortia →

The independent measurement partner, from baseline through endline. Field capability, readiness assessment and impact tracking as a defined work package.

What you receive

Every engagement ends in something you can use.

  • Clean, well-documented data, in the format that fits your team.
  • A written analysis that states plainly what the evidence shows and what it cannot.
  • The instruments themselves (surveys, interview guides, indicator sets) so the study can be repeated.
  • A direct reading of what it means for the decision in front of you.
  • Where a benchmark exists, we set your results against it. Turnaround is measured in weeks, not seasons.

When to come to us

The moments research earns its cost
  • Before you scale, when the cost of being wrong about how a product lands is high.
  • When a funder or board needs impact evidence that will survive scrutiny.
  • When a project is live and a mid-course reading could still change the outcome.
  • When you are entering an unfamiliar market and need to understand it from the inside.
  • When you need an independent voice precisely because an internal one would not be believed.

For the process behind every engagement, see How It Works. For the mission behind it, see About. To start a conversation, see Contact.

Start a study

Tell us the decision. We will design the study.

Send a short note about what you need to know and who it concerns. We will come back with an approach, a timeline, and an honest view of what evidence can and cannot settle.
